Hi there,
I wanted to introduce everyone a Vietnamese magazine in the United States called Lua Viet, whose website is at www.luaviet.org. They publish issues annually, and the 2006 issue is in the works.
If you like writing articles in either Vietnamese or English, please let me know. The themes of the articles usually revolve around seasons, Vietnam, culture, cross-cultural differences, food, and so on. It can be as creative as informing others on what your occupation is like, or how you like to wear your ao dai.
Journalism-styled articles are not the only writing we publish. We also recruit poets who want to share their wonderful work with us.
Another need we have is that in the later stages of the magazine, we need editors who are strong in grammar, word usage, and writing style in both Vietnamese and English.
Also, there will be a medical mission to Vietnam Project Vietnam this November 2005. Lua Viet sends a team of about 50 people each year, comprising of physicians, dentists, engineers, and volunteers with a readily lending hand. These missions are very effective and are carefully planned day by day, so you can be sure that each day you spend in Vietnam with the group will be productive. If you are available, I will send you further information.
Other possibilities you can help Lua Viet is to spread the word. Some ways this is possible is by selling the magazine when it is published at various places such as your family store, after Mass at churches, or in your youth groups. We also sell Ao Trang calendars, which can be bought at www.aotrang.com, because the artist is a close affiliate of ours. If you want to sell the calendar, please let me know. A wonderful artist by the name of Vu Dinh Lam is also another close affiliate, and we sell his beautiful hand painted greeting cards as well.

Anyway, once I know when they will publish it, I'll see if I can get you a copy (which will be a mixture of Vietnamese and English, which I hope is still okay).

Oh and I don't compare it to Home and Gardens magazines - it's a different kind of beauty. :)
